Dear all,
Eliza's recovery from infection and medication continues. She is off all blood pressure meds and has maintained a healthy heart rate and blood pressure level. There are still precious few signs of awakening. We heard reports of one spontaneous arm movement, and her pupils dilate when prompted by a flashlight. As of now, Eliza remains dependent on a ventilator for breathing. Dr. Bidegain says that Eliza is definitely on the path to recovery, but she thinks Eliza should be farther along in the waking process.
On the cranial front, Eliza's seizures have not let up, but there have been signs on the EEG of normal brain activity. The plan is for Eliza to undergo another MRI on Thursday to see how her brain looks. This MRI will focus in on the white matter where the irregularities appear. The doctors are still considering the use of another coma to stabilize Eliza's brain activity. The neonatologist, however, wants to make sure Eliza has completely recovered before any movement in that direction.
