It's out! Eliza's breathing tube was removed around noon, and she's doing very well. She has had a little trouble maintaining her oxygen levels, so she is under an oxygen hood, receiving humidified, oxygen-concentrated air. The level of oxygen will be gradually weaned until she's ready to breathe room air again. She has even been crying some, although with her very irritated throat, it sounds more like a squeak than a cry.
Now, we wait to see if she's strong enough to continue breathing on her own and if she can swallow and cough forcefully enough to maintain a clear airway. We're so grateful for your continued prayers!
Love,
us
