Eliza Update - 2/25 8:30pm

Dear family and friends,

By praying, we declare that God is powerful and personal. We affirm what God the Father definitively proclaimed through God the Son. Jesus' death on the cross unmistakably shows the deep love of God for His people, first for Jew, then for Gentile. Jesus' resurrection shouts the might of God. In prayer, we celebrate the history of God's intervention and invite Him to be Himself in the present. Awesome.

Jesus' hand continues to touch Eliza. This afternoon, Mama and Nana (Daniele's mom) got to spend 2 hours with an awake Eliza, big eyes and all. Yes, we know we need to send pictures soon.

On the medical side, Eliza is now off of all IVs. The nurses are administering the three seizure-meds by mouth. The only major medical inconvenience is the respirator. The respiration technician is weaning Eliza slowly, but her lungs need to show more oomph before they can take the tube out.

In other news, Eliza has apparently convinced the nurses that she is every bit a normal baby belle. They have begun dressing her in pink and purple outfits and putting ribbons in her hair. As pitiful yankee transplants, we defer to all y'all johnny rebs for feedback on proper debutante attire.

Love,
dixie jax
